Tokayev promised to end the super-presidential power in Kazakhstan
He said that new parties may appear in the country
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomat Tokayev said that the super-presidential form of government will be done away with in the republic. His words are quoted by Tengrinews.
During the congress of the ruling party “Amanat” Tokayev said that the country's political architecture would be reshaped by amending the constitution.
“We will finally move away from the super-presidential form of government, strengthen the powers of the parliament, maslikhats,” – Tokayev said.
The President added that the liberalization of the party and electoral legislation of the republic “should strengthen the role of society in decisions and make competition for votes more intense.”
Tokayev did not rule out that new parties will appear in Kazakhstan, while the existing ones will review and restructure their activities.
Earlier it became known that Tokayev left the ruling Amanat party. Until March 2022, it was headed by former President of the Republic Nursultan Nazarbayev.
