Putin announced the creation of geopolitical weapons by Russia’s “enemies”
According to the President of Russia, this weapon is not new, but its creation was given a new impetus, relying on “Russophobia and neo-Nazis”
President Vladimir Putin announced the creation of “enemies” of Russia Russia a new geopolitical weapon and the transformation of Ukraine into “anti-Russia”. Putin stated this while addressing the Council of Legislators of the Federal Assembly.
The broadcast was conducted by the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
“The enemies of our country have accelerated the creation of a new geopolitical weapon. Actually, it is not essentially new, but, of course, they gave it new strength, a new impetus. They relied on Russophobia and neo-Nazis. From year to year, they brazenly, unceremoniously turned our neighboring country Ukraine into anti-Russia, — said Putin.
According to him, Western countries have made attempts to influence Russia before, “encouraging” terrorists in the North Caucasus. “We remember how Western states in the 1990s and 2000s encouraged terrorists and bandits in the North Caucasus, speculated on the problems of our past, indeed on problematic issues, on the injustices of our past against entire peoples, including the peoples of the Caucasus” ,— said the president.
“They did it in order to <…> stimulate separatist sentiments in our country, in the end, to dismember and destroy it, that's what they did all this for, ultimately drive us into the so-called bear corner. So many at all times have sought to act in relation to Russia,»,— Putin added.

Putin called love for the motherland, which “invariably manifests itself at decisive moments for the country,” and solidarity as ways to counter such influence. “The unity of people is worth a lot, it guarantees that Russia will adequately respond to the most difficult challenges,” — said the head of state.
The Russian president has already talked about turning Ukraine into “anti-Russia”. In May 2021, after the arrest of the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform— For life» and Putin's godfather Viktor Medvedchuk, the head of state at a meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council said that Ukraine is “slowly but surely being turned into some kind of antipode of Russia, some kind of anti-Russia”; and a platform from which “news that require special attention from a security point of view” will always come.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin expressed concern after Putin's words. He noted that the Russian leader changed his rhetoric regarding Kyiv and began to talk about the country as a constant source of problems for Russia.
Later, Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the president's words, clarified that Ukraine makes many decisions that are anti-Russian in nature, under the influence of a “firm hand”. According to Peskov, there is a “sovereignty deficit” in Ukraine.
On February 21, 2021, before the recognition of the DPR and LPR by Russia and shortly before the start of the special operation, Putin delivered a long address to the Russians dedicated to Ukraine. In it, he stated that the neighboring country “has been reduced to the level of a colony with a puppet regime”, and the Ukrainian government “has lost its national character and is consistently moving towards the complete desovereignization of the country.”
In the same address, Putin stated, that Ukraine is going to create its own nuclear weapons, and Russia cannot but react to this.
The president called Vladimir Lenin the author and architect of Ukraine, while modern Ukraine, according to Putin, was entirely created by tearing away part of Russian historical territories. Nevertheless, Putin recalled, now in Ukraine they are actively demolishing monuments to Lenin, calling it decommunization. According to him, this suits Moscow, and he urged not to stop halfway— Russia is ready to show Ukraine what “real decommunization” means.
