Full 2020 Emmy Nominations: Brad Pitt Scores Dr. Fauci Nod

The 2020 Emmy nominations have arrived! There are some welcome surprises (What We Do In the Shadows, The Mandalorian) and one especially notable inclusion. Brad Pitt claimed a nod in the outstanding guest actor in a comedy series category for playing Dr. Anthony Fauci on Saturday Night Live. Pitt’s performance didn’t last long (three minutes, about) but it had enough of an impact to sway the Emmys, who we must thank for the nomination. Pitt appeared as Fauci in an April episode of the NBC sketch series in a casting move that was faciliatated by Fauci himself, hence the inside joke. Before Pitt’s appearance, Fauci was asked by CNN’s Alisyn Camerota who he’d like to see play him on SNL, should it ever happen. After Camerota offered a choice between Ben Stiller and Brad Pitt, Fauci replied, “Brad Pitt, of course.” Now, Pitt, who won his first Oscar earlier this year, may snag an Emmy out of the deal. Thanks, Dr. Fauci! Here’s the full list of 2020 Emmy nominations:
